Hobart’s Modified Mayhem rules and guidelines.

The Golden Rule: Read these rules. The difference between a happy shiny you and an angry banned you lies 100% within the following rules. Follow them, you'll be fine. Ignore or forget them, and you might still be fine - but you'll be fine somewhere else. THEM BE BANNING WORDS. You might spot the odd joke here and there in this post, but make no mistake, we aren't messing about.

Any and all of the below rules are subject to change at any time. Delinquent forum users will always find ways to be bothersome and ban-worthy without actually breaking any existing rules, and we reserve the right to change the rules to suit the occasion. We will always of course ensure that in doing so, we remain fair in our judgement.

----------
As a general rule, 3 warnings before the Strike out.
as this is a somewhat small community where everyone knows everyone
im sure we won't be banning anyone, but to keep it fair we have to have it in place.
----------

Be aware, this is not a strict process. If we feel it appropriate, you may be banned permanently for any offence, regardless of whether it's 1st or your final.

POSTING:

1. FIRST RULE OF FIGHT CLUB: Abuse of another user on the forum, including threats of violence offline, will result in a temporary ban. We don't like idiots any more than you do, but everyone defines idiot in a different way and those you perceive to be morons may be liked by others. If you're getting sick of a particular user's comments or attitude, refer it to a moderator and let them handle it. And they will handle it.

2. SECOND RULE OF FIGHT CLUB: Pornography is not okay. Forums and websites devoted to Teh Pr0n exist in no small quantity on this wonderful internet of ours, so if you want some of that, find them. While we believe that a simple "common sense" approach ought to be all that is needed to define pornography and follow this rule, we accept that some folks are a bit thick and need some help on this front. Pornography as it relates to the rules of https://modified.forumotion.com/forum.htm means any images or links that contain nudity or clear sexual connotations. If you're not able to perceive a sexual connotation when you see it, that excuse won't save you from a ban.

3. Linking the videos or images of violent, disgusting, cruel or horrible behaviour and/or happenings is prohibited. Regardless of your intentions - as honourable and respectable as they may on occasion be - this is not the place for it. We want your visit to https://modified.forumotion.com/forum.htm to be a positive experience, not a disheartening or saddening one. If you want to show another member something like this simply add them to MSN or email them. Even send the link to there Private messages and that way no one gets offended.

4. NSFW/NWS. Any thread which contains material not necessarily pornographic but still unsafe for viewing at work or school or around family MUST be prefaced in the thread topic title with either of the following acronyms: "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) or "NWS" (Not Work-Safe). Failing to adhere to this rule will result in a hot hot ban.

5. Racism and sexism were cool when your dad was a young lad, but not anymore. Welcome to the 21st century. Adapt or move to Afghanistan, it's up to you. Any of these kinds of comments and you'll be banned without explanation.

6. Postwhoring PART 1. Postwhoring means to post for the sake of it, rather than for providing any real useful input. If there is a quicker way to become the subject of great moderator and admin ire, we can't think of it. We accept that a thread is like a conversation and just like any conversation, the topic will run off on tangents and change subject frequently. That's fine. That is why the Off Topic forum exists. All threads in any other forum are to be treated with respect and consideration, and approached with common sense. The only time this rule can be ignored is if the author of the thread declares the matter to be resolved and is happy for the subject to change.

7. Postwhoring PART 2. Even though the Off Topic forum exists for you to be a little chattier than you can in other forums, that does not make it a free-for-all. If I post a thread about the XBOX360 in Off Topic, it's because no video game forum exists, not because I want the thread to suddenly transform into a chat about who you saw in Elizabeth Street last week. As the thread's author, I expect you to discuss the XBOX360 in my XBOX360 thread, and if you ignore that simple courtesy, you'll be on the next bus to bansville.

8. Abuse of Moderators/Administrators. If you have an issue with a moderator, you either take it up with them directly in a polite private message, or with an administrator. You do not ever create a thread questioning their actions for the forum to view and discuss. https://modified.forumotion.com/forum.htm is not a democracy, and the decisions of its moderators are not points for discussion within the forum community. You might think this to be somewhat dictatorial and tyrannical, but it's important that you be aware that all of the moderators are accountable for their actions, and their actions are monitored by the Administrators. They're instructed to be fair and polite in their judgement, and we believe it appropriate to expect the same from the community members. This includes abusing the moderator in private messages or other forms of communication not necessarily connected to the forum.

9. Advertising/promoting for a business in a post or signature, or creating a thread blatantly intended to promote a business is prohibited and will result in the offending post/thread being deleted and the user being banned. Unless it has been Approved by a Admin/Mod first.

10. Discussing your own illegal or potentially lethal activities on the forum is prohibited. This includes car-related activities, as well as drug and general crime-related discussions about yourself or friends.

11. If you want to have a chat, start a thread entitled "idle chit chat" and put the day in the title. You can talk all the crap in the world then. We will then close the thread the next morning. This must be in the Off Topic section. Please remember however that services such as MSN, ICQ and AIM - not to mention email and private messages - exist to facilitate these desires and ought to be your first choice.

Cheers,

The Admin and Mods.
